» The Group |
 | Group Controller | The Group Controller is responsible for co-ordinating how the group responds when called out. They will be aware of the skills of their group, the resources available, the vehicles they drive (and the capabilities of those vehicles). Matching what is available to what is needed is an essential part of their role. |  | Responder | The Responders are the main group of volunteers who make up 4x4 Response. Each responder will be a driver with a 4x4. Their capabilities / expertise / equipment will vary but each will offer something the group can use. The Group Controller will match what they can offer to what is needed. |  | Group Secretary | Every group will have people who run the administrative side, from meeting minutes to keeping accounts. Very often this person will also be a Responder or volunteer in other ways within the group. |  | Group Membership Secretary | The Membership Secretary looks after the group members. Welcoming new members to sorting out kit, and ID. |  | Group Training | Each group sees training as an important part of how the group develops and grows. Training covers all sorts of areas from off-road driving skills to using radios, to first aid. Each group will have someone responsible for training, organisaing and overseeing what is available, and who has taken the courses. |
