Default Race For Life 20/07/2010

On Tuesday evening 20th July 2010 Rover Rescue provided 6 units to support Cancer Research 5k Race For Life at Houghton Hall, W Norfolk.

We worked closely with Raynet and St Johns Ambulance to transport Marshalls and medics round the course and provide transport as necessary. Fortunately there were no incidents to deal with on what was a very hot evening.

This is the letter we have just received from the organiser:

Hello Robin and Rover Rescue,
I just wanted to drop you an email to say a huge THANK YOU for your support with the 2010 Race for Life event.
It was a lovely evening and it stayed DRY and VERY HOT which really increased the atmosphere.

Your support was fantastic and I hope you enjoyed the evening too. It was great to have your support in getting the marshals on and off the course and being a hands on support on the evening. You worked really closely with First Aid which was great .

At the event we saw 2,162 women take part in Race for Life at Houghton Hall and we are aiming to raised £105 ,000 without you this couldn't have happen so THANK YOU AGAIN.

Thank you again for your support at such short notice and hopefully see you next year.
Thanks Gemma

Thanks Patrick,
I know that this is not what we are set up to do but every event like this is a worthwhile training event giving everyone the opportunity to get to know others in the teams as well as RAYNET, St Johns etc as well as practicing and improving comms and gaining good publicity and spreading the word.
On the night 2 of our members were also RAYNET members and 1 other has an Amateur Radio licence and we were able to put RAYNET members in 2 of the other vehicles.
Unfortunately I didn't get any photos
