News and events around the Network this week (17/10/08)
Nigel Chairman of 4x4RNE tells us that the team has just completed a training event in the Kielder Forest. basic and advanced off road driving techniques, recovery, communication and navigation were some of the areas covered. Ten units attended on an extremely wet Saturday which provided the chance to practice wading techniques as an added bonus.
Many thanks to Kielder Forest/the Forestry Commision for providing the venue, and also to the locals of Kielder village for making us most welcome.
Members of Wessex 4x4 Response Committee have attended two trainining events this week, last Saturday Paul & Bob attended a seminar on good governance, on Tuesday the same two attended a tabletop exercise promoted by Somerset CCU to develop a plan in the event of a National Fuel Shortage, although the exercise scenario involved the Adult Care Services the plan should be valid for many different users. Meanwhile Alan was attending a major meeting in Wiltshire with regards to assisting the Fire Brigade and other services in Flood situations.
