Well this has been an interesting week, after a quiet fortnight.
In the last seven days we have seen the formation of two new teams; BHC and West Midlands. We wish both teams well and welcome them to the 4x4 Response Network This means that the vast majority of the country is now covered by a 4x4 Response team, just in time for winter.
We are now close to finalising an agreement with our national sponsor Community Resilience to supply us waterproof HV jackets to all member teams; we hope to finalise this agreement before Christmas and get jackets to the teams by mid January.
Nigel from 4x4 Response NE tells us
"4x4 Response North East have been training in the Kielder Forest (28th and 29th November 09). Training included transiting many and varied terrain on forest tracks and graded trails, also use of stone and sand quarries. Members were able to learn new or practice previously learned skills in a controlled safe envoronment. 4x4RNE would like to thank the Forestry Commisson for permitting the use of the forest on this and previous occassions as otherwise providing this invaluable training would be extremely difficult.
Also the same weekend "Fire Extinguisher Selection and Usage Tuition". Although most members had recieved H&S training previously on the subject at various times it was much more enlightening to actually extinguish a fire with an extinguisher. Our thanks to our member Ken for the tuition and provision of extinguishers."
