Hi all,

Im new here and just saying Helo,

Im based on the borders of Staffordshire and Shropshire, in Loggerheads near Market Drayton.

I dont know if there is a response team round here, but may well be looking to join one soon.

I may be changing my job soon, and that would hopefully free up my evenings and a lot of weekends, what could I bring....

Well ive been driving Land Rovers and other specialist 4x4s for over 25 years and at present drive a Disco 3, an ex-MOD defender and also have an original 80".

I was fully first aid trained (but lapsed some time ago), and have been carring out heavy recovery for 28 years, I am still involved with heavy recovery, not road vehicles but rail vehicles that have been involved in accidents and major incidents, using cranes and very specialist hydraulic lifting equipment, trust me when you have 127 tonnes of locomotive down a bank or dangling off a bridge, its takes some effort to get it back!

Anyway just a quick Hi, look forward to chatting with you soon.

Regards

Simon

Welcome to the forum.

No group in either Staffs or Shropshire at the moment but given the rate of growth of 4x4 Response in recent years (the number of groups has more than doubled in the last 2-3 years) it may not be too long until that changes.

Simon.

Welcome. Pretty sure at the moment there isn't one for Shropshire - nearest is Hereford or us in Gloucestershire who also cover Worcestershire at the moment. The North West guys are the nearest to Staffs I would say.

Maybe you might need to start one - there certainly is a hole to fill in that area.

Hi Chaps,

thanks for the comments, hopefully when (if) i change my job, hen perhaps I could muster some others together for a infant respense group.

There are many 4x4s in the area I live, including our own first response aiders, who drive a small suzuki 4x4, ther are also a full time specialist paramedic team who drive ex G4 vehicles based around here too.

Hopefully speak to you all again soon.

Cheers

Hi Simon

Welcome to the forum.

There are a few Wales members not far from Shrewsbury if that's any use to you. Kev_Powys lives at Baschurch which I don't think is all that far from you and is Training Officer for Wales group.

They have monthly meetings somewhere not far from there I think.

I'd suggest joining that group for now and then you could maybe start up something yourself when you've found out a bit more.

They do some very good training weekends - worth travelling for! :D

That will most probably be Extreme Medics (http://www.extrememedical.co.uk/index1.html), the owners of the company, Rich and Jamie are good friends of mine.

Hi Simon, you not that far from me ;)

But on another note I did apply for a firm that did heavy lifting and moving a while back over you way, but no luck. I not work for a local recovery firm.
