I've just recieved confirmation that Strathclyde Police have formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Strathclyde 4x4 Response to commence on 1st March 2012.
Strathclyde Police is one of the largest forces in the UK with approximately 8,000 police officers and 2,400 police staff, covers 12 local authorities and nearly 2.3 million people across 5,371 square miles of Scotland.
I do hope they don't all call at once!

Excellent news. Sussex 4x4 Response is now well into negotiations with Sussex Police on an MOU. We are currently discussing the Police requirements in relation to driver document checks, Police vetting, vehicle inspections and driver health declarations. If Strathclyde would care to share information with us on how their negotiations were handled and what they agreed in terms of checks on vehicles and drivers that would be very useful. We in turn would be happy to share with others as things progress in Sussex.

Now there is a good idea, sharing information to assist other groups to complete Mou's with other police authorities.
as a controller for Suffolk Rover Rescue, when I phoned the police (operations room) they asked what we do!!
If the organisation was to work together we could have all authorities signed up to mou's rather quickly and have no further problems.
Happy to hear your thoughts.....
