First post on here - My name is Arne Barker from Chippenham, Wiltshire. I joined 4x4 response back in July.
Have met with quite a few local (and not so local) members at two of our pub meets, and the recent ESS show at Hullavington. So I now have a good idea of who my colleagues are, and what we are doing in our area.
Regarding vehicles - well my family and I are suffering with an incurable disease which started in 1948 at Lode Lane Solihul, I caught the disease some 20 years ago, and have had a succession of Land Rover marquees ever since. Our family tally is currently five vehicles. My two are a 1957 Series One (my daily driver) and a Defender Td5 double cab (Tomb Raider look-alike). For 4x4 response activities maybe the Series one is not that practical - with no seat belts and a positive earth system - no easy way to install a CB (which seems to be a requirement today) so have decided to prepare the Td5 double cab. Having said that, the Series One is very capable in the snow.
CB is now fitted, also mag-mount amber beacon up on the roof rack, fitted with a waterproof plug and socket arrangement so it can be removed or fitted easily.
Here are some pictures...
