Hi

I am a member of the Scottish Borders 4x4 club, & after some research, myself & quite a few other member of that club are interested in forming a response team to cover the above areas. I sent an email yesterday informing you of this but unsure as to whether it was sent correctly?

Could you please forward me a contact email address?

Regards

Mel

Hi Alasdair,

Thanks for your prompt reply, I've read the posts on setting up a 4x4 response . I have emailed ChrisR & i'm awaiting a reply. The last thing I want to do is step on anyones toes, so once i've heard from Chris I'll hopefully be in a better position to take this further.

I've just read that the existing COTAG group is looking to expand and that another group is looking into forming a group in the west fo Scotland.....looks like things are starting to move north of our border!

Hi Mel, I have replied to your email.

Nigel,

When I made initial enquires about setting up a group, I got a reply from the team leader which said they weren't setting up any more groups and were merging two groups to become one. The Cotag Aryshire group became Strathclyde 4x4 Response.

Just a wee reminder that any new team will not be a "COTAG" team as such but do feel free to take the benefit of our experience!

When COTAG-Moray was developed there were a certina number of founding members who then branched off to develop COTAG-Aberdeenshire. This resulted in 2 teams with the same structure bu created a large administrative burden. We are now in the process of creating one larger team called COTAG 4x4 Response which will cover the Grampian region.

In the past people have showed interest in developing a COTAG-Highland and COTAG-Ayrshire but the volume of work required to create a team using the COTAG format inhibited this or made progress very slow. Therefore we are not currently going down the route of creating new regional COTAG teams.

We have loads we can give to you about setting up as a charity, limited company etc. Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Colin,

Yes I remember reading your post on that, that's why i thought it'd be a great idea for my team to cover the borders & your team to cover the Lothians, & as you suggested we could work closely together to cover a vast area of southern Scotland. As Nigel & Alasdair have suggested I need to contact the officials to seek permission & hopefully after that we can start the ball rolling so to speak.

Thanks again for all your help & I look forward to meeting you to discuss things further.

Regards

Mel

Just to update you.

We have received an application for membership for Lothian 4x4 Response, covering Edinburgh, West, Mid and East Lothian.

I have also had an enquiry from members of the Scottish 4x4 Forum regarding setting up a Highland Group (but not sure exactly where as that is a rather large area :D )

Hi Tony,

I have been in email contact with ColinR, Originally he was going to set up a group that covered The lotiams & the borders but this covers a vast area. So between us we decided to split the group & Colins group would cover the Lothians & my group (Once established) would cover the Scottish Borders. We have breifly discussed about working closely together & we are both looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead. I am based in Coldstream in the borders & have quite a few members scattered around that are interested in joining.

Mel

HI Tony, regarding the Highland group, if we were to get it up and running it would be based around the Inverness area, as that is the nucleus of the interested forum members.

This would work well geographiclaly in joining up with cotag Moray group.

Alasdair

Could be tricky unless you can split areas, as colouring in the entire Highland Region is likely to give the wrong impression of coverage.

Does anyone know if the Borders Group actually got going, I have looked and cannot see anything recent about them or something to say that they exist.

Colin

I have had no further communication from Mel, so as far as we are aware this is still only a potential group. Mel was active on the forum up until 4th August but nothing since then?
